Quality is a strategic objective to support the dynamic development and growth
in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It became necessary to support the public and
private sectors with proven methods, principles and practices that enable them
to compete globally and deliver expectations of customers. Therefore, King
Abdul Aziz Quality Award was established with international best practice and
local understanding of the business environment.
The Award was approved by the King of Saudi Arabia in telegraph number
7/B/18670 on 27-11-1420H and it was called King Abdul Aziz Quality Award in
recognition of his accomplishments in uniting the Kingdom and leading it
towards success. The Award criteria and system was developed by national
quality experts in addition to a national consulting firm, and SASO was
assigned as the Secretariat General Office.
The Award is aimed to develop and support all sectors of the Kingdom by
applying an international criteria and methods that lead to performance
excellence, promote best practices, motivate organizations to compete and award
distinguished efforts and recognize them by the Custodian of the Two Holly
Mosques.
King Abdul Aziz Quality Award will be distinguished nationally and
internationally, and will accomplish its objectives to promote quality level in
public and private sectors. The award will be one of the international
references among other awards such as the Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award, the
European Quality Award, and Deming Quality Award. Therefore, governments
recognize the importance of such awards since it plays a crucial role in
developing products and services quality and improves procedures and processes
as well as develops employees and systems.
